Saint-Laurent-de-la-Salanque
Between sea, ponds, and vines: viticulture at the gateway to the Mediterranean
Saint-Laurent-de-la-Salanque is located in a fertile alluvial plain, between the Maritime Corbières, ponds, and Mediterranean beaches. Although the municipality is nowadays better known for its market gardening, its terroir also has a rooted wine tradition. The soils, composed of sand, silt, and rolled pebbles, produce light, fruity wines meant to be drunk young.
The hot and windy climate, influenced by the nearby sea, allows for rapid and homogeneous ripening of grapes. Local viticulture is often oriented towards accessible red wines, as well as lively and aromatic rosés, highly appreciated in the summer season.
With its lively market, traditional festivals, and proximity to the coast, Saint-Laurent-de-la-Salanque offers an ideal setting for family summer wine tourism, combining beach, gastronomy, and discovery of local producers.
