Domaine du Sablier

Estagel, Agly Valley

Domaine du Sablier, founded in 2019 in Estagel by winemaker Camille Mege, is located in the heart of the Agly Valley. Its vines, some of them a century old, thrive on the sandy and limestone soils typical of Roussillon. Managed according to agroecological principles, the estate favors viticulture without chemical inputs, herbicides, or systemic treatments. Grape varieties such as Carignan, Grenache, and Viognier are carefully worked, then vinified without added yeasts, filtration, or sulfites. The estate thus produces natural, lively, and expressive wines, sincerely reflecting the identity of their terroir.

Roussillon wine country: an exceptional terroir

The Pyrénées-Orientales is one of France's most authentic wine regions. Roussillon offers a mosaic of unique terroirs: black schist from the Agly valley, granite from Les Aspres, limestone from Fenouillèdes and rolled pebbles from the plain. This geological diversity, combined with a Mediterranean climate tempered by the Tramontane wind, gives birth to wines of remarkable character.

Catalan winemakers cultivate iconic grape varieties — black, gray and white Grenache, Carignan, Mourvèdre, Syrah, Macabeu, Muscat à petits grains, Lledoner Pelut — often in organic or biodynamic farming. A winery visit in Roussillon is an opportunity to discover dry, fortified or natural wines in a preserved setting, at the heart of a millennia-old wine heritage.
