Wineries in the Têt Valley

The Têt Valley: from the mountains to the Mediterranean

The Têt runs from the Pyrenees to the Mediterranean across the whole département. Its valley draws two wine landscapes: upstream, the Conflent, facing the Canigó; downstream, the Ribéral, where the valley widens before the Roussillon plain.

One river, many terroirs

Along the Têt the soils go from the granite sand and schist upstream to the rolled-pebble terraces and clay downstream. Altitude changes the pace of ripening: slower in the mountains, earlier on the plain. The historic Roussillon grapes grow throughout, Grenache, Carignan, Syrah and Macabeu.

Where to taste in the valley

In Tarerach, Mas Llossanes farms its vines at around 700 metres. In Corneilla-la-Rivière, Domaine La Beille lies at the foot of the Força Réal massif, and Ille-sur-Têt and its Orgues fit into the same day.

To compare with the neighbouring vineyards, continue to the Agly Valley or the Roussillon plain.
