Wineries in the Ribéral
The Ribéral: the lower Têt Valley, between the Conflent and the plain
The Ribéral is the lower valley of the Têt, between the Conflent and the Roussillon plain. The valley widens here, sheltered by the Aspres to the south and the first Corbières hills to the north, with the Canigó always in the background.

Pebbles, schist and tramontane
The soils alternate between rolled-pebble terraces, schist and clay. The tramontane blows often and keeps the vines healthy, which makes organic farming easier. Reds are built on Grenache, Carignan, Syrah and Mourvèdre, whites on Macabeu and Grenache blanc.
Villages and estates to visit
In Corneilla-la-Rivière, Domaine La Beille farms its vines organically at the foot of the Força Réal massif. Ille-sur-Têt, with its Orgues, fairy chimneys carved in the sands, fits easily into the same day.
Upstream, continue to the Conflent; to the north, to the Agly Valley.
