Camélas: hills of the Aspres and characterful wines

Camélas nestles in the hills of the Aspres, an area of dry hills where the tramontane naturally keeps the vines healthy. Among schist, clay and stone, the vine clings on and produces concentrated wines, while retaining the drinkability sought by lovers of living wines.

The emblematic grape varieties of Roussillon find a privileged expression here: grenache, syrah, mourvèdre and carignan. The reds are deep and spicy, the rosés generous, and some whites (grenache blanc, macabeu) play the minerality card.

For a gentle exploration, link Camélas to Thuir and Fourques, two major stops in the Aspres wine-growing area.
