Fourques

Fourques

Fourques, a wine-growing village in the heart of the Aspres

Located in the Aspres, a few kilometres from Thuir and south of Perpignan, Fourques is an authentic Catalan village in the Pyrénées-Orientales, surrounded by Mediterranean hills covered with vines, olive trees and scrubland. Here, the landscape undulates between schist terraces and dry stone walls, offering an ideal setting for wine tourism and gentle hiking.

An exceptional terroir

Fourques lies at the heart of the AOC Côtes du Roussillon Villages appellation area. The perfectly draining schist soils, combined with the warm and windy Mediterranean climate (tramontane), give rise to characterful wines: structured reds with notes of black fruit and spices, fresh and expressive rosés, as well as aromatic and mineral whites.

The estates in the area often work on small hillside plots, favouring environmentally friendly practices and a viticulture attentive to living processes.

Hiking and soft mobility

The surroundings of Fourques offer numerous trails through the Aspres, with panoramic views of the Canigou massif, rural paths lined with almond trees and ancient agricultural tracks. These routes are perfect for accessible hikes, cycling or wine tourism itineraries by soft mobility.

Walking from estate to estate allows you to discover the territory at a human pace, understand the specificities of the terroirs and exchange directly with the winemakers.

Heritage and Catalan way of life

The village retains the charm of rural Roussillon villages: narrow streets, a church with its characteristic bell tower, shaded squares where you can feel the authenticity of local life. Fourques embodies a simple and warm way of life, between wine tradition and Catalan culture.

Staying in Fourques means choosing an immersion in a preserved territory, far from mass tourism, where you take time to taste, walk, understand and share.
