Camélas: the Aspres hills and characterful wines

Camélas is nestled in the hilly relief of Les Aspres, a dry landscape where the Tramontane wind naturally keeps vines healthy. Between schist, clays and stones, the vine struggles—yielding concentrated wines that remain drinkable, sought after by lovers of living wines.

Local varieties find a prime expression here: Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Carignan. Reds are deep and spicy, rosés generous, and some whites (Grenache Blanc, Macabeu) play the mineral card.

For a gentle exploration, connect Camélas with Thuir and Fourques, two major stops in the Aspres vineyard.
