Head north of Perpignan. A visit and tasting in Tautavel or Estagel in the morning, a winemaker's lunch, then Maury and its natural sweet wines in the afternoon. Finish with a walk through the schist vineyards at sunset.

Spring and autumn (harvest in September) are the best seasons, but the vineyard can be visited all year round. Book your accommodation early in high season. A car makes getting around easier; some stops are reachable by train (Perpignan, Collioure, Banyuls).
